On a rainy Saturday afternoon I was having one of those “I feel ugly moments”. We are all entitled to them once in a while-but you can’t let it stick..so I did something about it. Light some candles, put on some soft music, have some wine and dark chocolate and head to the kitchen! No, this is not a pity party its an at home spa! I was tired of forking over $80+ for shiny hair and way too much money on soft skin. So, after years of collecting at home spa recipes(you know you do it too) I actually made some!
I started with my face…my skin was feeling dull and dry so I went into the baking cabinet and found the perfect ingredients:2Tbsp Coffee, 2Tbsp Cocoa, 4Tbsp Almond Milk and 1Tbsp Honey. Sounds yummy right? It not only smells good, it made my skin amazing! After letting the face mask dry competely my face was brighter, puff free and super smooth!
Next, I needed to get my dry, winter skin bikini ready(I’m not putting on a bikini anytime soon but I did want to exfoliate to put on some self tanning lotion). Again I went to the pantry and put together 1 cup each brown sugar, raw oatmeal and olive oil. I mixed it all together, gently rubbed it on my dry skin(don’t rush it) and once it felt fully scrubbed I hopped in the shower to rinse it off!
And I couldn’t step into the shower without helping my hair. Thankfully, a few months ago we had some friends over and they brought over beer. We don’t drink beer so it had been sitting around waiting for a purpose. OK, what do beer and hair have in common? After shampooing and conditioning pour a bottle of beer(preferably dark beer). The beer with make dry and damaged hair shiny and provide the proteins to keep it strong. Just make sure to rinse well, so you don’t smell like the bar!
All of these treatments have been tested and approved by me. I must say that it was a great feeling to save money and have fabulous results! Don’t neglect keeping the exterior of your body healthy and gorgeous too-Beauty is skin deep but it starts somewhere!
